CBEIJING, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- China hails the Philippines for rebuffing attempts of some countries to incite tensions in the South China Sea, according to a foreign ministry spokesperson Wednesday.

CSome American politicians who are biased against and hostile to China are using their power to smear China with fabrications and impede normal ties with China under various pretexts, Wang told Xinhua in an exclusive interview.

CIn fact, the law has enjoyed immense popularity in Hong Kong, as millions of residents have signed in support. Social order has obviously improved and life has returned to peace and tranquility. Human rights and freedoms in Hong Kong also remain well protected.

C"Nonetheless, for some time, some politicians in the United States have kept making false statements and groundless remarks against China. They have viciously attacked the CPC and China's political system. They have deliberately distorted and even attempted to write off the history of China-U.S. relations for the past nearly 50 years," Yang noted.

CJohn W. Allen, former vice chairman of the United Nations (UN) Business Council, told Xinhua that he applauds the mutual success that has occurred for the two countries over the past 41 years, and is distressed by the negative language being used to describe China in the U.S. press.

CIf the United States is bent on going down the wrong path, China is ready to make due response, Wang added. Enditem

CThe two major countries in the world, which share extensive common interests, stand to gain from cooperation and lose from confrontation, they said.

CThe world will never want to see some U.S. political forces continue to undermine relations between the two countries and use Hong Kong to stir antagonism and hatred.

CU.S. arms sales to Taiwan seriously breach the three China-U.S. joint communiques, especially the August 17 Communique, severely undermine China's sovereignty and security interests, and gravely violate basic norms of international relations, said Wang. "China firmly opposes this."

CThis is a political virus which is understandably questioned and rebuked by people in the United States and the international community, he said.

C"The Taiwan question concerns China's sovereignty, territorial integrity and core interests. China has firm resolve in upholding its sovereignty and security," said Wang.

CChina has valued peace and cooperation since ancient times, and always opposes dangerous acts to divide the world along ideological lines, said Wang.

CStrengthening the supervision of listed companies' information disclosure and improving auditors' professional ethics and their practices are important means to protect the legitimate rights and interests of investors, the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) said on its website.

CHu Baoguo, deputy mayor of Kunming, said that the city of Vientiane and various sectors of society had donated 261,000 yuan (about 37,500 U.S. dollars) worth of medical supplies to Kunming since the epidemic was first reported in the province.

CHe added that as the world's economic powerhouse, China has a number of advantages ranging from raw materials, productivity, labor, infrastructure, economic diversification to education, among others.

C"I don't know why people like the term 'Cold War' so much. The correct lesson we should learn from past history is that such a cold war serves nobody's real interest," said Cui in an online interview with Nicholas Burns, executive director of the Aspen Strategy Group, and Andrea Mitchell, chief foreign affairs correspondent of NBC News, while attending the 2020 Aspen Security Forum on Aug. 4.

CNoting that the situation in Hong Kong has improved markedly since the promulgation and enforcement of the law on safeguarding national security, the spokesperson said the Chinese government will remain firmly committed to the implementation of the "one country, two systems" principle, and resolutely oppose interference in Hong Kong affairs by any external forces.

C"With effective policies and timely responses, China has managed to curb the spread of the virus and at the same time kept industrial chain stable and smooth," he said. "These efforts have helped ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), especially Cambodia, mitigate the impacts from the virus on our economy." Enditem

CBEIJING, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- China and India are the two largest developing countries and emerging economies, and cooperation between the two sides will not only provide strong impetus for their development, but also benefit world peace, stability and prosperity, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Tuesday.

CThe minister said the upcoming signing of the bilateral FTA will undeniably stimulate the speed of Cambodia's infrastructure development projects, including those under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
